Short Review Anthology
Listen to the silence: the words of the trees, the birds, the rivers, the winds…[…] and once
again be in bliss of the mystical enchantment of the wood that opens and closes as a
fan…The sky is overwhelmed… The trees are laden screams” (F. Garcia Lorca)[…]Sensitive and ready she effuses her vital feeling on canvases thicken by matter: now a
fragrant color, whimsical and musical,at times variegated by the expansion of her vision in a
mental rise that guides the movement, filled with palpitation, vibrant secrets, and unresolved
fears.
Marifulvia Matteazzi Alberti (Solo exhibit flyer, Vicenza, 2007)
You will find more in the Woods than in the books. Trees and stones will teach you more than
any other teacher will do.” (Bernardino di Chiaravalle) […] The shades, at times bright at
times light, unveil new and old places, icons of a sweet and immortal living. Ancient prayers
that chant memories distant from the present, yet embellished by her thoughts when she
feels she is loosing traces. The artist makes it possible to relive all around her a mystical
narration of the earth, where the voices of the canopies mix with the boldness of silence, with
the size of the expanse that orientates dreams and desires, questions and hopes. To allow
light to travel from the sky and released to earth, in every single season that changes and
renews itself, it moves forward and retracts prolonging insuppressible nostalgia. The artist’s
heart is the same, it becomes broader, it contracts and pulsates in unison with Nature, with its
changes, with the eternal proposal, again and again, of what appears and disappears in our
minds: “the infinite blue of day is like a well stretched silk; but on the quiet grassland the moon
is yet thinking of the way back.” (G. Gozzano)

…the work of the artist is admirable for its craftsmanship[…] very effective in direct
observation that allows to perceive the three-dimensional matter effect.
Enzo Papa (Torino Arte 150 Collective exhibit catalog, Turin, 2011)
Truly unique and exceptional, the paintings of Nicoletta Maria Fortuna are the brainchild of
continuous experimentations on custom-made wavy surfaces where thicknesses of live and
chalky matter seem to melt in vapor.
